Melissa began envisioning the concept of The Art House in the Summer of 2021 after working in healthcare for the last 11 years. She and her husband, Jon, have been St Augustine locals for 15 years and have been raising their three kids here, locally, over the past eight years. After the last few years she recognized that the community would benefit from more art centers in the area that were regularly offering classes and dedicated studio space to practice creative expression. Her goal was to create an open studio space that was accessible for people of all ages and experience levels to create and learn different art forms. St Augustine has so many amazing artists and teachers that are willing to share their expertise, and people looking for opportunities to participate in creative expression. She believes even people who do not consider themselves artistic would greatly benefit from a creative outlet. Her preferred art form is ceramics, particularly wheel throwing.
